So the runNANG and walking appears to have helped, because I certainly haven't been laying off the crap food the way I should.

Congrats!
I went running this week once, am planning to go again this afternoon. I thought at one point during the run that my teeth were going to fall out (they always hurt when I first start running) but I made it through.
Lost 4 pounds this week, although that's sort of cheating since I just packed it on last week - more of a yo yo than a real loss but hey, I'll take it!!!
